Construction and Demolition Waste
AVE participates in the 1st Circular Construction Seminar (PRCD – Prevention of Construction and Demolition Waste), organized by the Smart Waste Portugal Association and financed by the Environmental Fund.
The 1st Circular Construction Seminar was held on November 27 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. This seminar is part of a set of initiatives to be developed within the scope of the Circular Construction Project – Prevention of Construction and Demolition Waste (RCD) promoted by the Smart Waste Portugal Association and financed by the Program Supporting a New Environmental Culture of the Environmental Fund.
The project aims to promote educational actions aimed at the various agents along the chain associated with the RCD, supporting their interaction, promoting the organization of the most sustainable value chain, in line with the principles of the circular economy.
This project therefore bets on raising awareness for the prevention of RCD production as well as its valorization, by promoting their incorporation in industry and construction, allowing the reduction of the carbon footprint of the sectors, the reduction of the extraction of natural resources and the diversion waste to landfill.
The project also addresses a topic of public interest, representing an important contribution in raising citizens’ awareness of the problem of illegal depositions of RCDs, which may also include hazardous waste in its composition. These illegal depositions give rise to environmental liabilities with negative potential for future generations.
AVE was represented at this event presenting the option of Coprocessing in the Cement Industry, through:
- Material appreciation of the fraction of waste in this row;
- Energy recovery of non-recyclable fractions with thermal potential;
